Regina police arrest 48-year-old man in Saturday's homicide

The victim, a 61-year-old man, is the city's eighth homicide victim this year.

REGINA – Update Nov. 6, 8:38 a.m.: Regina Police Service has charged 48-year-old Roy Julius Dennis Sayer with second-degree murder in this weekend’s homicide.

Sayer appears in Regina Provincial Court Nov. 6.

Original story: Regina Police Service (RPS) is investigating the city’s eighth homicide of 2023. The victim is a 61-year-old man.

Police were called to the 1900 block of Montreal Street shortly after 6:30 a.m., Nov. 4. The initial information indicated there was an injured man lying outside a home. Police and EMS attended and located a man who was suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to hospital but succumbed to the injuries.

Officers secured the immediate area and requested the additional resources of the RPS Major Crimes and Forensic Identification units, as well as the coroner. 

RPS say the man’s name will not be released at this time.
