Regina man jumps out glass window to escape police

Suspect to appear on assault and breach charges.

REGINA – A man leapt through a second-storey window in an attempt to evade police over the weekend. RPS members were called to the 2200 block of Osler Street in the early morning of Feb. 18 responding to a call of a female in distress. Once on scene, police found a 26-year-old male in the residence, who was under conditions not to be in contact with the female.

“Police attempted to arrest the male and a struggle ensued,” said RPS in a media release. “The male broke free from police and jumped head first through a second story glass window out onto a roof. The male sustained several injuries as a result of jumping through the window.”

A short negotiation between the man and police ensued, and the man came down from the roof; taken into custody without further incident. He was then escorted to hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Kane Neapetung, 26, of Regina is charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, breach of probation, and breach of undertaking.

He is scheduled to appear in court on these charges on Feb. 21.
