RCMP WEST arrests man in North Battleford in Saskatoon homicide

Two men have been charged with first-degree murder.

SASKATOON – Update: The Saskatoon Police Service wishes to correct that the RCMP's Saskatoon Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) effected the arrest of the 37-year-old wanted man in North Battleford, not Saskatoon.

Original story: Police have charged two men with first-degree murder in the death of a 48-year-old man at a home in the 200 block of Avenue I 小蓝视频 on Feb. 17.

On April 3, members of RCMP’s Saskatoon Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) arrested a 37-year-old man in Saskatoon on warrants for breach of probation. After arresting him, Saskatoon Police Service’s Major Crime Section charged him with first-degree murder.

The next day, a 34-year-old man was arrested and also charged with first-degree murder.

Both men appear before a Justice of the Peace Thursday evening.

Saskatoon Police Service patrol officers had responded to a call about an injured person at the west end home around 12:25 a.m. on Feb. 17. When officers arrived, they found him suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital, where he died shortly after.

There have been five homicides in Saskatoon this year.

On Feb. 3, Saskatoon police found the body of a 25-year-old man from Alberta inside a home in the 600 block of Lisgar Avenue. 

On Feb. 10, a 48-year-old man was shot and killed at a home on the 200 block of Avenue K North

On Feb. 19, patrol officers responded to a report of a male who was stabbed on the 200 block of 20th Street West. A 35-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he died a short while later.

On Feb. 19, a 12-year-old male was killed. Two youth, a 12-year-old male and a 13-year-old male, were charged with manslaughter.
