REGINA - Regina Police Service are reporting that during a police operation in the area of Mathieu Crescent they arrested Keagan Panipekeesick, who RCMP were seeking in relation to a firearm-pointing incident on the first nation Zagime Anishinabek.
He has been charged with one count of pointing a firearm and one count of possession of a firearm contrary to order, said Saskatchewan RCMP during a media availability Wednesday afternoon.
Two other individuals were also taken into custody at the residence, said RCMP, and officers continue to investigate their involvement, if any, with the firearm-pointing incident.
RCMP are also looking into whether the firearm-pointing incident and four homicides on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation are connected. They are unable to confirm a link at this time.
The police operation took place overnight. In a news release, police had advised that this "is an ongoing, dynamic situation and the safety of the public and police is of the utmost importance."
People in that area had been advised at that time "to shelter in place and ensure all doors are locked. It is important the public refrain from posting or broadcasting photo or video on social media, which could interfere with the active investigation. Please avoid the area until further notice."
