Police make second arrest in Taya Sinclair's murder

In January, Taya Sinclair's family attended the first appearance in Saskatoon court of a woman accused of killing her.

PRINCE ALBERT – A second person has been arrested in connection to the homicide of Taya Sinclair. Chelsey Crowe, 33, is facing charges of manslaughter, unlawful confinement, and assault causing bodily harm in Sinclair’s death. She was arrested Tuesday while in custody on other unrelated charges.

Crowe made her first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court Wednesday on the charges relating to Sinclair's death. Crowe is also charged with unlawful confinement and aggravated assault involving a second victim. She is back in Saskatoon court March 30 on those charges.

In January, Prince Albert  police arrested 25-year-old Stephanie Halkett-Stevenson while she was in custody in Prince Albert for unrelated charges. According to court documents obtained by SASKTODAY.ca, she allegedly held a man captive in Saskatoon on either March 12 or March 13, 2022. She threatened to wound, maim, disfigure or kill him, and also assaulted him. For that incident, Halkett-Stevenson is facing charges of aggravated assault, unlawful confinement, and uttering threats.

Halkett-Stevenson is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault and unlawful confinement in Sinclair’s death.

Taya Sinclair's burned body was discovered by the Prince Albert police on March 15, 2022, near Alfred Jenkins Field House in Prince Albert. Sinclair had been reported missing to the Saskatoon police on March 14, 2022.

 has been set up to support Sinclair's two young boys, and $3,725 has been raised so far towards the $15,000 goal.

Prince Albert Police Service's Criminal Investigation Division say their investigation continues.
