Police investigate shooting, ask public for tips on Drayden Charles

LA RONGE – A 19-year-old man is wanted after a man was seriously injured in Bell’s Point on March 17. La Ronge RCMP have released Drayden Charles’ photo and ask the public to report any sightings of him.

Police say when they responded to a report of an injured male in Bell’s Point, they found an injured man who was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Their investigation determined that three people dressed in all black approached the victim as he was sitting in a vehicle. A firearm was discharged, injuring the man. The three suspects then fled on foot.

On March 18, La Ronge RCMP, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Crime Reduction Team (CRT) and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team executed a search warrant at a home in Bell’s Point in relation to the investigation.

Cameron Ratt, 21, and Jaron Halkett, 24, of La Ronge, were arrested at a home on Bird Place on March 18.

Charles, Ratt, and Halkett, are all charged with robbery with a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent, reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault, unlicensed possession of a firearm, and two counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition without a license.

Charles was additionally charged with possession of a firearm/ammunition while prohibited and failing to comply with a probation order.

Halkett and Ratt are scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on April 8.

A warrant has been issued for Drayden Charles’ arrest and La Ronge RCMP are actively working to locate him.
