REGINA – A good reminder to not leave your vehicle running when unoccupied, as police responded to a call of a stolen vehicle on Rae Street. Just after 10 p.m. on Nov. 17, a man jumped into an unlocked vehicle that was running and drove away.
Police were able to locate the stolen vehicle, and could tell it was СÀ¶ÊÓƵ driven erratically by the lone occupant, but the car thief evaded RPS members. However, in the early morning hours of Nov. 18, the vehicle was once again located - this time abandoned in the area of Broadway Avenue and Broad Street.
“A canine track was executed and led to a 36-year-old male, who was confirmed to be the male observed during the aforementioned offences,” said RPS in a media release. “The male was arrested, and upon identification found to be prohibited from driving.”
The man was charged with theft of a motor vehicle; possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; operation of a conveyance dangerous to the public; and operation of a conveyance while prohibited.
He was scheduled to make a first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Nov. 18.
