Police charge 12 year old with Regina break-in

Two others involved were even younger, RPS say.

REGINA – Police report that a 12 year old has been charged with breaking into a business in the 700 block of Alberta Street on Jan. 22.

“The preliminary information given to police indicated a break-in to a restaurant, and described three young females as potential suspects,’ said RPS in a media release.

When police arrived on scene, they discovered a window had been smashed with a fire extinguisher to gain entry to the building. Signs that alcohol had been consumed were also present.

“Three suspects were identified, but two of the youngsters are under the age of 12 and cannot be charged,” said RPS.

The youth cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, but they were charged with break, enter, and commit theft. The youth was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Youth Court on March 6.
