SASKATOON – Numerous Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) officers were assaulted this weekend during the execution of their duties.

The first incident occurred on Aug. 26, at 6:30 p.m. Patrol officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1100 block of McKercher Drive. When they arrested a 28-year-old man for assault, he refused to enter the police vehicle and struck an officer causing minor injuries. He continued 小蓝视频 combative with officers while in the SPS Detention Unit.

He was believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant and was assessed by the paramedic in detention before 小蓝视频 medically cleared. He faces two assault charges, one of them 小蓝视频 against a police officer.

The second incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m., Aug. 26. Members on patrol responded to another domestic disturbance occurring in a vehicle near Circle Drive and Venture Crescent. A 21-year-old passenger had become combative with the driver, causing him to pull over and call police.

When officers arrived, they began speaking with the passenger and believed he was under the influence of an intoxicant. He was arrested under the Mental Health Act, and upon 小蓝视频 taken into custody, became combative with officers. The suspect kicked, bit and spit on officers, while attempting to disarm one of them. One officer was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The 21-year-old man is charged with assaulting a police officer and disarming a police officer.
