No bail for man caught hiding from police under mattress

NORTH BATTLEFORD – A Saulteaux First Nation man found hiding under a mattress by police was remanded in custody after appearing in North Battleford Provincial Court April 6. He was scheduled to have a show cause hearing that day.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team was working on locating 26-year-old Ethan Night on four separate warrants for offences including pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats and fraud.

The police investigation determined he was at a home on Salteaux First Nation. Occupants of the home let officers into the house and they found him hiding under a mattress. He was arrested without incident.

Night's next appearance is scheduled for April 20 by CCTV from the correctional centre. He is expected to enter a plea.
