PRINCE ALBERT – A man is in serious condition after СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Tazerd by Prince Albert police.
Prince Albert Police Service say that about 2:23 a.m. Saturday morning officers had conducted a vehicle stop related to a stolen vehicle investigation. After arresting the man, police say an interaction occurred that resulted in officers using a conducted energy weapon on him.
The man went into medical distress and was taken to hospital where he remains in serious condition.
The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team [SIRT] was notified and are investigating the circumstances.
Police continue to investigate in the area but say there are not safety concerns.
PAPS said they believe in processes that seek facts and added that it’s important that processes taken to assess the actions of all those involved, including the police, are fair, transparent, and defendable.
“We are fully cooperating with SIRT and as SIRT’s investigation is ongoing, PAPS is unable to comment further on this incident,” said PAPS in a media statement.
