SASKATOON – A 52-year-old man is in custody following a domestic violence assault and evade police incident in which a collision occurred with a police cruiser and a police side arm was discharged.
At approximately 1 a.m., Dec. 9, Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) received a report of domestic violence at a residence in the 2400 block of Melrose Avenue. When officers arrived, the suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a Dodge Ram truck.
Officers then located the vehicle in the area of 11th Street West and Circle Drive. The suspect began to evade police and attempts at deploying tire deflation devices weren’t successful.
Another patrol car then spotted the truck travelling eastbound on Fairlight Drive where a collision occurred involving the police cruiser and the truck. Officers were then able to take the suspect safely into custody. The suspect and the two officers involved in that collision were uninjured.
While attempting to locate the suspect vehicle, two other patrol vehicles were travelling on 11th Street West, along the train tracks. A collision occurred involving both police cruisers, resulting in minor injuries to two patrol officers.
The man is now facing charges of assault, assaulting a police officer, 小蓝视频 police, dangerous driving, and breach of court conditions.
The incident will be reviewed in accordance with SPS policy.
