Man charged with second degree murder following inmate death

RCMP are reporting details on an arrest made following a death at Regina Correctional Centre Oct. 12.

REGINA — A man has been charged with secon- degree murder following a death at Regina Correctional Centre.

RCMP F Division reports that following an investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, Adrian Cote has been charged with one count of second-degree murder in relation to the death of Sheldon Rosebluff, age 46.

Cote appeared in Regina Provincial Court Oct. 13. His next appearance is Oct. 25 at 9:30 a.m. in Regina Provincial Court.

RCMP reports the initial investigation determined two inmates were involved in an altercation on Oct. 12. Rosebluff was fatally injured; Cote was not injured.

According to the province’s news release Wednesday, Rosebluff had been on remand at Regina Correctional Centre. Following the altercation, Corrections staff had initiated life-saving measures and called EMS. EMS declared the inmate deceased at approximately 8:50 a.m.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continues to investigate in collaboration with Saskatchewan Coroners Service. Also assisting are RCMP Forensic Identification Section and Regina RCMP General Investigation Section. The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will conduct an internal investigation.
