PRINCE ALBERT – Three men charged after two people were injured in a shooting on Lac La Ronge Indian Band are headed to trial next year.
Following preliminary hearings, Klay Thomas Patterson, 25, Kade Jeffery Patterson, 23, and Klein Patterson, 27, a judge ruled there was enough evidence for them to stand trial in January 2024 in Prince Albert Provincial Court.
They are charged with two counts of discharging a firearm with intent, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of unlawfully causing bodily harm, using a firearm during a crime, careless use of a firearm, two counts of pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Prince Albert RCMP say that at about 4:45 a.m. on July 30, 2022, they had received a report of a shooting on Lac La Ronge Indian Band. Their investigation determined that a vehicle approached a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a home and two males in the parked vehicle were injured. They were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
After the shooting, police had issued a warrant for the arrest of the three Pattersons and released photos of Kein and Klay. They didn’t have a photo of Kade. The three were located and arrested by Waskesiu and Prince Albert RCMP on Aug. 3, 2022.
The charges against the accused haven’t been tested in court.
