Inmate dies at Regina Correctional

EMS couldn't revive man, coroner and police to investigate incident.

REGINA – A 19-year-old inmate on remand has died while in custody at the Regina Provincial Correctional Centre.

"The inmate was found unresponsive in his cell," said media release from Corrections, Policing, and Public Safety. "Corrections staff initiated life saving measures and called EMS."

Unfortunately, paramedics could not revive the man, declaring time of death at 3:55 a.m. on Feb. 10.

An internal investigation into this death will be conducted by the Ministry, as well RCMP and the Saskatchewan Coroner's Service were notified and begun investigations. 

Foul play is not suspected at this time, nor was the man's death related to COVID-19.
