Fourth suspect arrested in connection with Jeremy Starblanket's death

PRINCE ALBERT – Police have arrested a fourth suspect in the death of 29-year-old Jeremy Starblanket.

On Feb. 24, 44-year-old Darren Masuskapoe from Prince Albert was charged with first-degree murder. Masuskapoe made his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday and his matter was adjourned to March 6 for election.

On Feb. 23 Prince Albert police arrested 25-year-old Keyano Ahenakew from the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation and charged him with first-degree murder. He appeared in Prince Albert court Friday and his matter was adjourned to March 17. 

On Feb. 22, Henry Ratt, 26, of Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He made his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court Thursday morning. He is back in court on March 16.

In July 2021, Loretta Sakebow was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Her matter has gone to Prince Albert Court of King’s Bench to set a trial date.

Prince Albert police say they don't anticipate any more arrests.

Police found Starblanket’s body at the scene of a house fire in the 500 block of 5 Street East in Prince Albert in July 2021. Prince Albert Fire Department said the explosion at the house blew the building off of its foundation.
