Fearless 73-year-old fends off axe-wielding intruder in home invasion

Grabbing a knife, a 73-year-old man forced the intruder out of the home.

A masked man had broken into a Saskatoon home Friday night and demanded money while threatening occupants with a hatchet.

SASKATOON – A 31-year-old man faces numerous charges after breaking into a home and threatening the occupants with a hatchet on Friday night.

Saskatoon police say that at about 10:15 p.m. on Oct. 20, they were called to a break and enter at a house in the 100 block of Mackie Crescent. Homeowners told officers that an unknown, masked man had broken in and was demanding money while threatening them with a hatchet.

A 73-year-old male victim forced the suspect out of the home using a knife, causing minor injuries to the suspect. Prior to police arrival, the suspect fled with a small amount of cash and a purse. The victims didn’t receive any injuries.

Patrol and Canine officers quickly located the suspect attempting to hide in a home in the 10 block of Mackie Crescent. He was arrested and a hatchet was located and seized by police. The suspect was believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant and was combative and aggressive towards police, paramedics and medical personnel in the hospital during and after transport. He was taken to SPS Detention after 小蓝视频 treated for a minor injury.

Bradley Moosuk is charged with break and enter, wearing a disguise to commit a crime and breach of conditions.

Moosuk appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court Monday and he was remanded in custody until his bail hearing on Wednesday.
