Criminal defence lawyer appointed as provincial court judge

Defence lawyer Lisa Watson has been appointed as a judge at Saskatoon Provincial Court.

SASKATOON - The Government of Saskatchewan has appointed defence lawyer Lisa Watson to the Provincial Court in Saskatoon.​

"Judge Watson brings to the provincial judiciary an impressive breadth of experience and knowledge, and I am confident that she will serve the province well," said Justice Minister and Attorney General Bronwyn Eyre. "The words I’ve heard to describe her are fair, kind, hard-working, with a high attention to detail. These are perfect attributes for the job ahead.”​

Judge Watson received her Law degree from the University of Saskatchewan College of Law in 2009 and was admitted to the bar in 2010. She began her career with Roe and Company as an articling student and eventually became an Associate. In 2015, she became a Partner with Peszko and Watson in Saskatoon.​

Judge Watson has a wealth of experience in criminal defence and is co-president of the Saskatoon Criminal Defence Lawyers Association. She has been a sessional lecturer at the U of S College of Law since 2018 and involved with various professional associations, including the Federal Judicial Advisory Committee, Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association, and Saskatoon Community Mediation Services.
