Charges of robbery with a firearm, resisting arrest, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 were withdrawn against August Nahbexie in North Battleford Provincial Court.

NORTH BATTLEFORD – All three charges were withdrawn against an Alberta woman accused of robbing a delivery driver in North Battleford.

Charges of robbery with a firearm, resisting arrest, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 were withdrawn against 25-year-old August Nahbexie of Sunchild First Nation in North Battleford Provincial Court.

Her co-accused, 28-year-old Justin Poitras of North Battleford was sentenced to time served and nine months probation on a weapons charge.

Another co-accused, 21-year-old Marlon Wuttunee of Wilkie, remains in custody and is back in North Battleford court April 19 for a show cause hearing.

Nahbexie, Poitras, and Wuttunee were arrested after Battlefords RCMP had received a report of a robbery on the 1400 block of 109th Street in North Battleford on Dec. 28, 2022.

Police say that two men had approached a delivery driver who was parked in his vehicle, threatened him with a firearm, forced him out of the vehicle, and stole the vehicle.

Officers from the Battlefords Gang Task Force found the stolen vehicle parked behind a home on the 1200 block of 108th Street in North Battleford. The vehicle left the residence but got stuck in the snow in an alley. Police approached the three male occupants who were trying to dig out the vehicle. They fled on foot when they saw the police.

Two of the males were arrested after a short foot chase and the third was found at a nearby home. An illegally-modified firearm was also located and seized in the home during a search, which the occupants had consented to.
