CANORA – The remains found recently in Canora have been identified William Neuman, who was reported missing to Canora RCMP on Dec. 20, 2023. His family has been notified and victim services made available to them.
Canora RCMP began investigating after finding human remains around 2:45 p.m. on May 22 on Railway Avenue in Canora. At the time, investigators said they didn't believe the death was suspicious.
Investigators consulted with a forensic anthropologist and pathologist, who examined the remains. Investigators also notified loved ones of individuals who were previously reported missing in the Canora area and had not yet been located.
Neuman was reported missing Dec. 20, 2023 after Canora RCMP received a request to perform a well-СƵ check on an adult male at a residence on Roslyn Avenue in Canora. Officers checked the residence and did not find the adult male. It was determined that he had not been observed at the residence in several days and it was believed he may be injured and in need of urgent medical attention. Further investigation determined that he was last physically seen in Canora on or around Dec. 5.
RCMP asked local residents of the area to check their properties, including outbuildings, for any sign of Neuman, or any items that seem out of place. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Traffic Services, Police Dog Services and Remote Piloted Aircraft Systems, as well as conservation officers from the Provincial Protective Services Branch all assisted in the search.
Investigators even thought he may have travelled to British Columbia and asked residents there to watch out for him.
