Terry Bird appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court Monday morning and was remanded in custody.

PRINCE ALBERT – Terry Randy Bird, 31, made his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court Monday morning on a theft charge after he allegedly walked out of a store with 52 items in a grocery cart that he didn’t pay for.

Bird was remanded in custody and a bail hearing has been set for Jan. 12.

Bird was arrested on Jan. 5 after the Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) Proactive Policing Unit and the Patrol Division responded to a call of a theft in progress at a business in the 800 block of 15th Street East. Police were told that a suspect left the business with a grocery cart full of stolen items.

Bird had fled from store security but was located by police when he was leaving the area. As they approached him, he discarded the stolen items and fled on foot. Officers caught up to him and arrested him.

Police went back and located the grocery cart and 52 stolen items with a total value of $2,528.

Bird is charged with theft under $5,000.
