SASKATOON – Two people face numerous charges after refusing to stop for police Sunday morning following a report of an impaired driver at a drive-thru restaurant in the 3500 block of 8th Street East.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., Aug. 27, Saskatoon Police Service officers were dispatched to the call and police tried stopping the vehicle on McKercher Drive but the driver refused to stop for and fled at a high-rate of speed.
The suspect vehicle, a stolen Ford F-150, was located abandoned in an alley in the 400 block of Rutherford Crescent. The suspected driver and passenger were located walking nearby and were arrested without further incident.
The male suspect driver was believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant. A knife was located and seized from the female passenger. Officers discovered various illicit drugs in the pair’s possession including prepackaged methamphetamine and fentanyl. A number of baggies, cell phones and a scale were also located inside of a backpack. Various sets of keys, garage door openers, identification documents and bank cards, not belonging to the suspects, were also discovered by police.
A 34-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman are both charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking. The female suspect is also charged with possession of a dangerous weaponThe male suspect is facing seven additional offences including dangerous and impaired driving-related charges, 小蓝视频 police, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and possession of identity documents relating to another person.
