YORKTON – The Yorkton Dodgeball League concluded their Fall 2023 season Dec. 16.
The league, which meets every Monday night at St. Mary's School operates in two seasons, running until Christmas, then resetting for a fresh start in Jan.
The recent season concluded, after about 14–15 weeks of play, culminating in a playoff with four teams competing on Dec. 16.
Yorkton This Week spoke with league organizer, Matthew McKee, who said five teams currently participate in the league, but he is hopeful for more engagement in the Winter 2024 season, tentatively scheduled to begin mid-Jan.
“I’m hoping we can get six or seven teams but we’ll see,” said McKee.
Each team requires a minimum of 10 people, with a cap of 15. Seven people play on the court at a time and the first team to win five rounds claims victory.
“Games are usually 45–50 minutes long,” McKee added.
The Fall 2023 season saw McKee’s team, "Great Balls of Fire," emerge as victors, besting “Not In The Face” for the title.
