YORKTON - The Yorkton Curling Cub has earned some recognition for its efforts from CURLSASK.
Yorkton club president Bev Fuches recently accepted the CURLSASK 2024 Future Award.
This award is presented to a club who:
- Shows a positive, welcoming community space
- Demonstrates active status on social media
- Embraces change
- Held a Viterra Blizzard Program
- Youth curlers attended the Viterra Praireland Curling Camp
“It looks at what we’ve done for the year,” Fuchs told Yorkton This Week, adding the club has been focused on 小蓝视频 as active as possible in promoting the game. “. . . It’s recognition for the hard work we’re doing.”
That is particularly true in terms of trying to get youth on the ice.
Fuchs said events such as RockFest which attracted 96 youth participants from Lloydminister to Winnipeg is foundationally important to the future of curling.
This fall the club will be looking to attract new participants with six weeks or six end curling games with the focus on fun – for example music will play as participants curl.
Fuchs said they hope businesses will sign up and as long as four players show up each week it will be a great way to try the sport.
