YORKTON — The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce announced March 8 that the deadline for submitting applications for the upcoming Celebrate Success Business Awards has been extended to March 13.

Juanita Polegi, Executive Director of the Chamber urges businesses to submit their applications. “The Chamber introduced a number of new award categories for specific sectors,” she said. “We are encouraging businesses in to apply for the award in their specific sector. You can’t win if you don’t apply.”

Some businesses have indicated it feels strange to be applying for an award. Polegi explains that as no one knows the business like the owner knows it, it only makes sense for the business to complete and submit the application. “No business should feel shy about applying for an award,” she said.

Polegi added that applying for an award is an effective, positive and inexpensive form of marketing. “If your business is selected as a Finalist, 350 people learn about your business at the Awards Dinner. And if it is selected as an Award recipient, even greater positive attention is paid to the business,” she said.

Not for profit organizations are encouraged to apply for the Community Merit Award.

Applications for the various awards may be found on the Chamber’s . Completed applications must be submitted by March 13.

The Award categories for which there are applications include Award of Excellence; Ag Production; Health & Wellness; Personal & Aesthetics; Property Restoration; Relax, Eat Drink (hospitality); Retail & Consumer; Trades & Skilled Labour; Woman Entrepreneur; and Young Entrepreneur.
