YORKTON - The Yorkton Brick Mill has announced its Heritage Dinner for Wednesday, Sept. 25 at St Mary’s Cultural Centre in Yorkton.
The special guest speaker will be Brian Conn, Country Manager for Canada at Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC), a global merchant and processor of grains and oilseeds. He manages LDC’s Canadian business including their canola crush and refining facility in Yorkton, a transfer elevator in Port Cartier, Quebec and is overseeing a recently announced pea protein isolate facility also located in Yorkton.
Conn joined LDC in 1991 and has held various positions in Canada and the US before relocating to Calgary in 1998. He is a past Board Member of the Canola Council of Canada from 2005-2020 including Board Chair from 2016-2018. He has been a Board Member of the Canadian Oilseed Processors Association (COPA) since 2010 and is currently Vice-Chair.
Conn is also a Board Member of the Edible Oil Producers Association (EOPA), an association focused on refined edible oil consumption in North America.
Conn will share LDC’s story of growth and expansion in the canola crushing market as well as the company’s new pea protein isolate production facility in Yorkton, -- both planned for operation in 2026.
“I am looking forward to the Heritage Dinner and sharing how LDC’s plans for future growth will continue to help shape the future of Canadian agriculture,” said Conn.
This will be the sixth annual fundraising dinner for the Yorkton Brick Mill Heritage Society, a group of volunteers established in 2011. The title sponsor for the annual dinner is Yorkton Tribal Council.
As well as the guest speaker, there will be an historical photo display, live entertainment and a silent auction.
Tickets are available at yorktonflourmill.ca, from Frameworks in Yorkton, or any Brick Mill committee member.
