Snowarama kicks off snowmobile season

This year's goal is to raise $200,000, matching last year's efforts that raised over $200,000.

YORKTON – Snowarama kicked off Nov. 16 with a pancake breafast hosted at SaskAbilities.

The Yorkton Snoriders and local snowmobile dealerships, Schrader's and FFUN Motorsports, partnered to host the official kickoff to the snowmobile season in Yorkton and the surrounding area.

"The timing was perfect because that's the day it snowed. We were just putting the pancakes on the grill here at SaskAbilities and the snowflakes started coming down," said Deana Stroshein, Community Relations Co-ordinator at SaskAbilities.

"Registration is open and pledge sheets are available," said Stroshein.

This year's goal is to raise $200,000, matching last year's efforts that raised over $200,000.

"We're shooting for the same goal that's exceeded our expectations the last two years by a very large amount," said Stroshein.

The 48th annual Snowarama will take place in 2025, with the official ride day on March 1. Registration and a wing night for participants will be held on Feb. 28. The best way for people to sign up is by visiting the Snowarama website.

"The kickoff was a really nice partnership with those other groups that celebrate snowmobiling in the area... [they've] been incredibly dedicated supporters of Snowarama for years. We were really happy to be able to partner to celebrate the season with them," said Stroshein.

The day continued with events and activities at the Art Bilous Centre (Yorkton Snoriders clubhouse), Schrader's and FFUN Motorsports.

Funds raised at Snowarama will support three Easter Seals programs: Camp Easter Seal, Summer Fun, and Adaptive Technology Services, which increase self-confidence, self-determination and independence for children and youth experiencing disability in Saskatchewan. Since Snowarama began in 1977, over $3 million has been raised.
