Yorkton RCMP charge man following ongoing incident

YORKTON – Update: Yorkton RCMP say that as a result of their investigation, 36-year-old Aaron Meekis from Regina is charged with break and enter and resisting arrest.

Meekis was also wanted by Regina Police Service following a report from Correction Service Canada that he was unlawfully at large. He was remanded and appears in Yorkton Provincial Court July 27.

Original story: There will be an increased police presence in the residential area of Maple Avenue in relation to an ongoing investigation.

Yorkton RCMP along with additional Saskatchewan RCMP resources will be in the community for an undetermined amount of time and are asking residents to stay clear of the area. Officers are thankful to the residents in the community for their patience and for providing the space required to conduct a thorough investigation.

An update will be provided as soon as more information becomes available. If an increased risk to public safety is identified, RCMP will notify the public.
