Legion unveils eight new banners for veterans

New banners bring a total of 210 veterans recognized for their service.

YORKTON – The Royal Canadian Legion General Alexander Ross Branch #77 added eight new  veterans to their banner program.

"This year 16 veterans will be recognized on eight new banners. This brings our total to 105 banners honouring over 210 veterans," told Yorkton Legion President, Brittany Johnson, during a commemoration at the Yorkton Legion Oct. 6.

As in previous years, the banners contain the names of veterans, the conflict they fought in or operation they served in as well as the community that they were from.

Banners are now on display among the city streets and will remain until immediately after Remembrance Day.
