Our precious mom, Dorothy Sebulsky, entered eternal rest with her family by her side on June 9, 2015. She was born to George and Anna Shumay (Synco) in the Whitesand District, Springside, February 14, 1917. Dorothy received her education at Homestead School; worked for many families in the area; Western Grocers, Yorkton Union Hospital and later at the Business Office at Fort San, Fort Qu'Appelle. In 1951, she married Alec Sebulsky of Sheho and owned Sebulsky's General Store and Locker Plant. They were blessed with 3 children - Rosanna, Leonard and Alexandra. In 1969, her beloved husband Alec passed away and with 3 young teenagers, she continued with the business, learned to be intensely independent and gave all her energy for her children. Upon retirement, she was able to travel, continue to be involved in the community, was a member of the Seniors club and the IODE. Dorothy enjoyed bingo, tea with her friends, daily Search-a-word puzzles and played a million hands of Rummy (which she usually won). Family was her great joy - she loved Christmas, Easter and Birthdays as it was a time to be together for fun and often, very noisy visits. She shared her cooking "secrets" with grandchildren; long telephone calls from them made her day and when the great-grandchildren started arriving, she couldn't wait to hold them and watch their antics. In 2013, at 96 years, Mom moved to Yorkton Nursing Home - Weber House where we were able to visit her often. Events planned by the activity staff were enjoyed. Faith was of great importance to Dorothy - she and Alec were active in the construction of Christ the King Church and was President of the Women's League for many years. She rarely missed the televised Daily Mass - her faith in God is now our Legacy and she leaves a true example of strength, patience and kindness. We have been blessed and will miss her dearly. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Alec, grandson, Jason Bilokreli, parents, George and Anna Shumay and siblings - Very Reverend Basil Shumay, Martha Wasylowich, John Shumay, Mary Spilchen, Matt Shumay and a brother in infancy. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Rosanna (Harold) Bilokreli, Yorkton, son, Leonard (Debbie), Sheho and daughter Alexandra (Gordon) Peterson of Yorkton; her grandchildren, Marcia (Rob) Lane, Sheri (Kirk) Weinmaster, Candice (Chad) Massier, Tim (Andrea) Sebulsky, Nancy (Rob) Skeels, Jaime (Derrick) Sentes, Mitchell (Tara) Bilokreli, Jennifer (Brian) Rusnak, Gordon (Shelby) Peterson, Brianne (Regan) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Jesse Campbell, Madison and Alex Massier, Payton and Jaron Weinmaster, Shelby Sentes, Carter Peterson and Ethan, Jaxon and Lexi Bilokreli. She also leaves a sister, Pauline Dowhanik of Winnipeg, MB. A Prayer Service was held June 15 and Funeral Liturgy June 16, 2015, both from Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church, Sheho with Father Raymond Lukie officiating. Cantors were Ed Pindus and Colette Karapita. Altar was served by Dorothy's son, Leonard. The Cross bearers were Brianne Johnson and Jaime Sentes and Dorothy's grandchildren were the pall bearers. We are thankful to Father Lukie for your service and words of comfort. Thank you, Harold and Brittany of Narfason's Funeral Chapel for your expert care and compassion. To all who attended the services and the many acts of kindness during this time - your thoughtfulness will always be remembered. Memorial donations to the Christ the King Cemetery Fund are appreciated.
