Marjorie (Marge) Ross

Mrs. Marjorie (Marge) Ross was born on September 30, 1942 in the Fort Pelly District of Saskatchewan, the youngest of five children born to John and Polly (nee Barisinkoff) Rybak, and passed away after a brief illness, at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on May 23, 2015. She was 72 years of age. Marge was united in marriage to Gordon Ross on November 10, 1962. The couple had one child, a son, Gordon junior. Marge worked at witnessing jobs, first in Canora and then at Good Spirit Lake for a number of years. With her husband's passing in 1974, Marge began work as a nurse's aide and later in house keeping, at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, positions she held for 27 years, until declining health forced her retirement in 2001.聽 After her retirement, Marge volunteered for a few years at the hospital as well. As her son Gord was growing up, Marge was extremely involved in his sports activities, from score keeping at his baseball games to fundraising for his hockey teams, to transporting kids to practices and games. One of her most proud memories of Gord's time in sports was when he stole home to win a game in baseball. After Gord's sports endeavors were done, Marge became a rabid sports fan herself, cheering feverishly for the Yorkton Terriers junior hockey team, the Yorkton Cardinals baseball team (for which she was official scorekeeper for a number of years) and of course, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Marge also enjoyed playing bingo, reading, (especially Clarence Boon books), crossword puzzles and word find puzzles and was a card shark at cribbage. Even though Marge was very proud of her son, Gord and loved her daughter-in-law JoAnn dearly, she was most proud of her two grandchildren, Colby and Jaylin. After her second aneurysm in December, 2008, Marge entered the Yorkton and District Nursing Home until her passing. Marge leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Gord (JoAnn) and grandchildren, Colby and Jaylin. Marge is also survived by her brothers, Paul (Edna) Rybak of Kamsack, SK and Ed (Miriam) Rybak and family of Thunder Bay, ON; brothers-in-law, Jack Benny (Marge) Ross of Yorkton, SK and family, George (Joanne) Ross and family of Yorkton, SK, Mel (Carol) Ross of Saskatoon, SK and family, sisters-in-law, Esther Allan of Chilliwack, BC and family, Linda (Hugh) Tretiak of Kelowna, BC and family, Bev (John) Allary of Dysart, SK and family, Sandra (Darcy) Pfeifer of Ebenezer, SK and family, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marge was predeceased by her husband, Gordon in 1974; her parents, John and Polly and sisters, Ann and Verna. Prayer Services were held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Pastor Fred Schneider officiating.聽 The organist, Carla Laycock led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Softly and Tenderly" and "The Old Rugged Cross" . The Funeral Service was held on Friday, May 29, 2015 from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorkton, Saskatchewan with Pastor Fred Schneider officiating, assisted by Margaret Ann Yost. Marge's son, Gordon Ross, shared words of tribute and eulogy. The organist, Carla Laycock, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Whispering Hope", "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens, Garden of St. Mark, with Randy Rybak, Dylan Rybak, Gord Tebbenham, Jodi Ross, Chad Ross and Clarence Moorhead serving as the casket bearers.
