Mr. Tony Rohatensky of Yorkton, formerly of the Calder district, beloved husband of Violet passed away on May 9, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 82 years of age. Anton (Tony) Raymore Rohatensky was born on February 15, 1932, in Calder, SK to Metro and May Rohatensky. He was the second of six children and attended Torsk school. On October 24, 1954, Tony married Violet Ann Kozak. They spent a few years in Flin Flon, where Tony worked for a lumber company as a lumber jack, then they moved to Saskatoon, where Tony worked for a furniture store, and then to Gronlid, where he worked road construction. They then moved to Melfort where Tony worked for a building contractor. In 1963, Tony and Violet moved to the Rohatensky homestead, where Tony farmed until 1992. Tony's grandfather, Michael Rohatensky, came from the old country in 1898. His father, Metro Rohatensky was born in 1900, and saw the railroad come across his land. Tony, with helpers, took this railway apart from MacNutt to Rhein in 1997. He spent the rest of his time on the backhoe doing work for the RM of Calder and grave digging. Tony and Violet lived on the homestead until June of 2013, when they moved to Yorkton. Tony's memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 59 years Violet, their sons Anthony Thomas and Robert James, his brother Peter (Iris) and his sister Victoria, five grandchildren (Eden, Landon, Keone, Tèa and Logan) as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Tony is predeceased by his parents, May and Metro, as well as his brothers Mike, William (Bill) and Dmetro (Jim). The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey, Certified Celebrant officiating. Son, Robert Rohatensky shared reflections of Tony's life. Musical Selections, "How Great Thou Art", "Amazing Grace" and "I Will Always Love You" were included in the service. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Mark at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Landon Rohatensky, Keone Rohatensky, Warren Ryberg, Paul Rohatensky, Ivan Sobkow and Philip Sobkow serving as the casket bearers.
