Daniel Kozie "Grumpz" was born on January 17, 1938 in the Stornoway District, the son of Peter and Jenny (nee Danyluk) Kozie. Dan received his education at the New Canadian School. On August 22, 1964 Dan was united in Holy Matrimony to Elaine Woychesko of the Beaverdale District, Saskatchewan. Dan and Elaine were blessed with four children; Darrell, Cynthia, Pamela, and Dwayne. Dan worked most of his life around construction, gravel trucks, semi trucks. He was the foreman for Kirsch Construction for many years until he was injured. He retired out on his acreage, he loved the farm and fixing things, tinkering with his Russian tractor a good deal of the time, hauling wood every year, and his love for animals. Dan enjoyed going for coffee to Yorkton and to meet the guys at the mall. He dearly loved when his grandchildren came out to the farm as they always made his day. He leaves to celebrate his life, his loving wife of 50 years, Elaine; his son, Darrell (Sherry) Kozie of Yorkton; his daughters, Cynthia "Toosha" (Kerry) Greenstein of Rhein, Pamela Stromecki of Yorkton; and his son, Dwayne (Serena) Kozie of Regina. His beloved grandchildren; Ryan (Alicia), Justin, Breanna, Michael, Andrew, and Melissa. His great-grandchildren, Drake, Daxton, and Emily. His brothers, Steve (Verna), and John. His sisters, Jean (Andy) Kitch, and Irene (Merv) Protz. His mother-in-law, Rose Halushka, and his brother-in-law Clarence (Violet) Woychesko; and many extended family and friends. Danny was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Jenny Kozie, and his sister, Marlene Matechuk. A private family funeral service was held on Thursday August 21, 2014 from Kopan's Funeral Service with Reverend Father Methodius Kushko C.Ss.R. of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church serving as the Celebrant with Mr. Edward Pindus singing the responses as the Cantor.
