Nell Hanewich, beloved wife of Lawrence Hanewich, passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on November 10, 2015 at the age of 76 years. Nell was born on July 15, 1939 to Steve and Ann Yawney (Bosovich) at the Canora Union Hospital. She grew up and attended school in Rama. Growing up in a family with four other siblings and СÀ¶ÊÓƵ the second oldest child, she took on many family responsibilities of helping her parents after completing high school in 1957. Nell moved on to the big town of Canora and obtained employment at the Canora Union Hospital as a Nurse's Aide and later at the Canora Gateway Lodge as a Special Care Aide and an activity worker. This is where Nell found her lifelong passion for serving and caring of others. While in Canora, Nell met her soulmate, Lawrence Hanewich and they married on August 11, 1962. Their first home was in Mikado, a tiny school teacherage. Shortly after, they began building a home in Canora where they moved with their four loving children. Nell was very devoted to many organizations in her community: Beta Sigma Phi, Gateway Lodge Auxiliary, Ukrainian Orthodox Ladies Association (42 years) and a church elder for 15 years dedicated to church cleaning, planting flowers and general care. Nell was also an avid gardener and took great pride in her beautiful flowers and dressing her home. She leaves behind many fond memories that will be greatly cherished and loved by all who knew her. Nell truly was a people person with a genuine heart. Nell was predeceased by her parents, Steve and Ann Yawney; her infant twin brothers, Peter and Paul; brothers: Thomas and William; nephew, Grant and great-nephew, Lucas Marchinko; as well as her in-laws, Nicholas and Pauline Hanewich. Nell will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, Lawrence; daughter, Janice (Glen) Key of Saskatoon; daughter, Jodyjane (Brent) Hrywkiw of Cochrane, AB; daughter, Janet (Shawn) Flett of Saskatoon and son James of Yorkton. Nell was extremely proud of her six grandchildren: Kyla (Jon), Pharyne, Daneka, Braeden, Benton and Ellyn. Nell was also survived by her sister, Rose (Herb) Marchinko; brother, Walter Yawney; sister-in-law, Myra Sklaruk and brother-in-law, Bob (Alva) Hanewich; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special neighbours and friends.
