James Alan Groundwater

James Alan Groundwater. It is with great sadness, we announce that Alan passed away suddenly from heart complications on May 13, 2015 in Kelowna, B. C. Alan was born April 27, 1950 in Melville, SK and spent his growing up years in Yorkton, until moving to B. C. in 1968. He is predeceased by his parents Jim and Alice Groundwater and his nephew Matthew, of Nanaimo, B. C. Alan's partner and very best friend of many years, Jenine, along with his extended family Jen, Natalie, Steve, Nellie, Yvonne, Dee and Bob will cherish the memories they have of their very special years together. His daughters Cherene (Bob), Marina (Steve), his son Ryan (Shilo) and his grandchildren Parker, Cooper, Jayden, Maveric, Logan and Elise will forever miss their Dad and Grandpa.聽聽 Alan has 7 brothers and sisters that have many great memories they will forever cherish, Dennis (Karen), Coquitlam, B.C., Beverly (Chet), Nanaimo, B.C., Mary, Calgary, John (Wendy), Nanaimo, Patsy (Jim), Kelowna, Linda (Bryon), Nanaimo, Grant (Susy), Nanaimo, many nieces and nephews and The Tatton's, a family very dear to our hearts, all having grown up together as kids and to this day, still have a Groundwater/Tatton reunion in Nanaimo. Alan was a heavy duty commercial transport mechanic and the shop manager at Ryder Truck and The Surrey School District, before moving to Kelowna. Alan was very much like his Dad, one of those very special persons you may only get to meet once or twice in a lifetime. He was a perfectionist in all that he did and had a talent for fixing or building anything. Alan and Jenine worked extremely well together to create their very own retirement space. Family and friends gathered together in Kelowna on May 23, 2015 to celebrate Alan's life. A special story was told by Alan's very young grandson, Parker, of how he loved having breakfast with his "Grandpa Waters" and he will miss that. A piece of Alan remains with us all. Condolences can be offered @www.hansonsfuneral.ca.
