In last week鈥檚 issue of The Outlook, we provided some information on the federal candidates seeking your vote in the constituency of Moose Jaw-Lake Centre-Lanigan, which includes the Town of Outlook, as well as a number of communities in the Lake Diefenbaker region located on the west side of the 小蓝视频 Saskatchewan River.
This week, we take a look at the candidates running in the constituency of Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek, which encompasses a number of local communities on the east side of the river, including Macrorie, Conquest, Delisle, Milden, and Dinsmore.
The following information has been provided by way of candidates鈥 official websites and social media pages.
People鈥檚 Party of Canada Candidate 鈥 Cody Payant
I think it's time we ask ourselves if we still know the freedoms that were intended for us by our forefathers in the true north strong and free. And as we are reminded that we don't know how lucky we are to live in Canada, it is perhaps more important to remember the immigrant who reminds us of how lucky they are that they had some place to escape to. If we lose freedom in the west, there is no place to escape to.
And this idea that government is beholden to the people, that it has no other source of power except the sovereign people, is still the newest and the most unique idea in all the long history of man's relation to man. This too, is a key issue in this election, whether we believe in our capacity as Canadians for self government or whether we abandon Canadian confederation and confess that the unelected councils of the United Nations can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.
It is for these reasons that I am unable to in good conscience remain on the sidelines. It is for these reasons that I joined Maxime Bernier and the People's Party of Canada in the first place in August, 2018, and it is for these reasons, that I am now officially announcing my candidacy as the official PPC candidate for our riding of Carlton Trail - Eagle Creek.
Freedom, Fairness, Responsibility and Respect. These are the words we have heard often over the past ten months. But not enough. We must shout them from the mountain tops as we change the lives of millions of Canadians for the better while restoring peace, order and good governance to the House of Commons. Send me to Ottawa and I promise you, you will not be disappointed.
Green Party Candidate 鈥 Dean Gibson
Dean Gibson was born in Calgary and moved around a lot as a child as his father was an RCAF reconnaissance pilot. The family finally settled in Saskatoon, making this his hometown since 1960. Dean studied music and the fine arts, including musical theatre at The Banff School of Fine Arts. In his earlier years, he also traveled across the country with a variety of folk singing acts.
The environment has always been front and center with Dean and remains at the core of his political values and action. He believes the world economy needs to readjust how it thinks of prosperity, and to include the cost of environmental impact in our assessments of 鈥渟uccessful鈥 projects.
Dean believes that the Green Party is the only party that will take the action necessary to avoid the worst of the climate crisis and wants to be part of the movement to build a more resilient and sustainable country.

Jasmine is fighting to make life more affordable, with better access to healthcare, universal pharmacare, affordable housing, and a strong rural economy that supports farmers and creates good, green jobs so that all Canadian families can thrive.
Liberal Party Candidate 鈥 Rebecca Malo
My name is Rebecca Malo. I am 45 years old. I grew up in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, and have lived in Warman since 2002.
I grew up in Alberta in a single-parent family. After I finished school, I wanted to get away from my family and picked north as a good direction and moved to Yellowknife to get a job. I stayed there for eight years before the winters got to me. In 2002, my husband and I married and we moved to Warman to start a family.
I opened and ran a licensed daycare for 10 years and through a combination of formal education and workshops gained the skills to become the best parent I could be. Once my boys were school age, I felt the need to do more in the community. I joined the Warman Library Board and the Warman Housing Authority and am a member of the Warman Emergency Response Team. I went back to school and am currently in the process of getting my accounting degree from the U of S. I am so excited to be graduating this December!
I was able to go back to school because of the money that I received from the Canada Child Benefit and the Skills Boost school support for older adults. With the federal election coming up, I realized that these programs were Liberal initiatives. What if these programs disappeared? Some political parties don't support these programs. I didn't think that was fair. I want everyone to have the same opportunity as me to recreate themselves. That's why I decided to run as a Liberal candidate in the upcoming election.
My personal top priorities are health, education, and transportation.
Independent Candidate 鈥 Glenn Wright
Glenn Wright is an active champion for sustainability. "We need good public policy to accelerate a sustainable transition. We need to restore public trust in government."
Glenn was a candidate for the SK NDP in 2011 and 2016 and federally in 2015.
Glenn, 43, currently farms near Delisle. He holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan. Glenn retired from the position of Mill Manager for Areva at the McClean Lake uranium mine in 2016. Glenn has worked for over 15 years as an engineer in resource extraction in both Northern Saskatchewan and Alberta. Glenn is now pursuing a law degree at the University of Saskatchewan.
In his spare time, he enjoys drag racing, cross country skiing in the winter and biking and camping in the summer. After completing his first degree in 1998, Glenn biked across Canada.
Glenn and his wife Shannon have three children.
There is an old saying: "If you allow it, you approve it."
鈥淚 am unhappy with the state of our current government. We deserve better, but it takes willing participants to mold and shape the system to what we want it to be. That is what compels me to participate. It should be about public service rather than lust for power. We need to restore public trust and address the corporate capture of our government.鈥
