Jim Siddons, Ketchen Lake Bible Camp chairperson, took a spin on the peddle go-carts offered at the camp last year. The carts work well for anyone aged 6 to adult and the camp is hopeful they can add another seat to the cart so the younger campers can be taken for a ride during this year鈥檚 camp.

PREECEVILLE  - Ketchen Lake Bible Camp will be welcoming campers back for another season of camping and fellowship.

The camp will be running both overnight and day camps. The overnight camps are available for campers from July 4 to 8 for teen camp, July 11 to 15 for junior teen camp, intermediate camp from July 18 to 22 and July 25 to 29 for squirt camp, Space is limited," said Elaine Brewer, Camp Director.

The camp will host a one-week day camp session from Aug. 8 to 12 and is open to children aged 6 to 12 years old.

Among the new camp categories offered this year is a family camp on July 29 to 31 with a family day held on July 1. “The family fun day encourages everyone to come out to have some fun games and activities with the campers,” said Brewer.

“We are running our full summer with an added week of Day Camp. Through the last two years we realized there was a need for Day Camp and we didn’t want to lose the kids who wanted that experience and maybe weren’t ready for overnight camps so we kept in one week of Day Camp and we do allow 6 year olds to come! Which is the only camp they could attend so they are very excited about getting to go to camp!”

A Camp Camo week is set to run from August 2 to 6.

“So many of our summer campers are hunters or come from homes where hunting is a big part of their way of life. At camp we seek to offer programs that meet the needs in our surrounding communities. Camp Camo is an opportunity to provide both useful and vital skills to all the campers. We eat meals prepared on the open fire, sleep in tents, make survival tools and enjoy skill instructions and a great competition,” shared Brewer.

The sports camp will be held from August 15 to 19 and open to campers from 6 to 12 years old. It is an opportunity to minister churched and non-churched youth that might not be already attending camp and introduces them to Biblical teachings that they can apply to their own lives. The camp helps develop skills in several sports, encourage good sportsmanship, encourage a healthy lifestyle, teach to play with integrity, and have fun. It is open to children aged 10-18.

The final camp of the season is a 24/7 Camp held from August 12 to 18. It is open to 10-18-year-old teens and designated for teens who want to grow deeper in their walk with Christ.

"This is an exciting time for campers and volunteers," said Brewer. "We are still very cautious and will continue to practice safety procedures with hand sanitation and cleaning which is made a little easier this year with a fog cleaner system. The camp purchased one through fundraising efforts.

"We are looking forward to a great season with camp activities in full swing for the summer. New to the camp this year are all-terrain peddle go-carts. We have six, made possible through fundraising. These go-carts are super fun and offer another fun activity for campers this year and remote cars are also available for the campers to use.
"Excitement is building and everyone is looking forward to camp at KLBC this summer," concluded Brewer.

The camp is scheduled to host a garage sale on May 27 and 28 as part of their fundraising efforts with funds all allotted for the camp. The garage sale will be held at the Evangel Tabernacle church.

Renovations planned for the camp this year include building a playground station and upgrading the beach front buildings to make them more usable.

The camp was founded in 1941 and its mission is to help families, especially youth and children, by leading them in a week of fellowship in a Christian setting.

Ketchen Lake Bible Camp supporting churches include: Endeavour Fellowship Chapel, Gateway Community Church (Canora), Hyas Baptist Church, Living Waters Christian Fellowship (Hazel Dell), Pelly Fellowship Chapel, Pineridge Fellowship Chapel (Hudson Bay), Preeceville Evangel Tabernacle and Weekes Evangelical Chapel.
