OUTLOOK - Coming out of the Better Newspapers Competition awards last week, one staff member of this newspaper was able to cinch two awards!

Held on Thursday, May 9, the BNC Awards are held as part of the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association's AGM every spring, highlighting the best and brightest around the province.

The Outlook's Shelley Luedtke claimed two awards in this year's 小蓝视频, winning Best Feature Story for a story on the medical issues 小蓝视频 faced by young Benny Grunerud, as well as Best Health/Healthcare Coverage for a story on a family drawing attention to end-of-life care options. She also took 2nd Place for Columnist of the Year.

Comments from the judges on Luedtke's work included:

"Luedtke's story of young Benny Grunerud's journey with cancer strikes the right balance between telling his story, tugging at the heartstrings and thanking the community for its support. Its honest, yet hopeful message, combined with some good writing, leaves the reader with feeling that they've been on the journey with Benny and his family and are not just peeking into their lives."

"This compelling story personalizes the journey of end-of-life care. The writer uses good storytelling techniques to share a positive experience during a difficult time."

Journalist Derek Ruttle found himself in the running for Best Educational Coverage K-12 for his story on Beechy School students and staff working to create a community history book. Ruttle ended up taking 2nd Place in the category.

The Outlook newspaper also took 2nd Place for Best Editorial Page in the Class B ranking.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees!
