OUTLOOK - The walls of the Jim Kook Rec Plex in Outlook are set to shiver and shake with the noise and spectacle of pro wrestling for the first time in just over a decade.
On Friday, June 17, the roster from the Saskatoon-based Best Entertainment Wrestling (BEW) is set to have a show, bringing the action of pro wrestling to town for the first time since September 2011.
Entitled 'Payback', BEW promoter Claude Cusson says that fans can expect to witness a cavalcade of wrestlers from all over the country.
"I've got guys from just about everywhere," said Claude, sitting down with The Outlook in the rink. "I've got wrestlers from Alberta, Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, BC, wrestlers who are from seemingly everywhere!"
The show in Outlook is lining up to be an event pitting one side against the other, with Cusson saying that a surprise or two may be in store for anyone looking to make a name for themselves at BEW's expense.
"The show here in Outlook is going to be one hell of an event because it's going to be the East vs the West," he said. "These guys, they're coming to take all my gold, but there may be a surprise coming for them. We're not pushovers around here!"
Cusson's favorite wrestlers include Canadian legend Bret 'the Hitman' Hart of Calgary, and he counts the iconic showdown between Hart and brother-in-law Davey Boy Smith at Summerslam '92 as his favorite wrestling match of all time. To him, pro wrestling is a great form of escapism entertainment that brings together people of all ages. This form of 'athletic theatre' can have a way of bringing all age groups and artistic tastes under the same umbrella.
"It's just a great show for the family and gives everyone something to do on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday," said Claude. "It's something to just go and enjoy and have a good time with your family and friends. Come and scream at the guys, and scream your head off! You've got to have fun with it!"
Tickets are available at the door or can be bought in advance at the Outlook town offices building.
