Prairie Festival brings out families and fun to Outlook

Multi-day event at museum grounds produces big crowds and bigger smiles

OUTLOOK - Leading into the weekend, the weather forecast for Outlook and area had grey skies and rain headed this way. That surely would've spelled disaster for the outdoor Prairie Festival, but in a somewhat miraculous turn of events, the skies kept clear and the sun was shining for the event that was held in Outlook last weekend.

Once again held at the Outlook & District Heritage Museum grounds, it was the second time in just over seven months that an event like it was held, but that didn't seem to matter to the cavalcade of people who came out to have a good time over May 27-29.

It also wasn't the only thing happening in town that weekend, as Equinox Theatre's three-show run of 'You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown' was another option for people to go and enjoy after the events at the museum had ceased for each day.

Things kicked off on Friday with an outdoor market for those looking for wares to spruce up their home, and the food trucks arrived at 11:00 am on each day of the weekend to offer up their culinary delights, whether it was fresh squeezed lemonade from Big O's, an elephant ear for dessert from the Outlook Locker Plant, or a pulled pork sandwich from the Smoke Shack. Whatever you were craving, odds were that there was something that tickled your fancy from the seven food trucks that were on-site during the weekend.

Entertainment-wise, there seemed to be something for everyone of every age group, whether it was Jesse Lewis's hypnosis show on Friday night, or his children's magic show on Sunday afternoon. If classic cars were your thing, then Saturday's show n' shine event was up your alley, with a long lineup of eye-catching engines and antique autos on display. On Sunday, things were more kid-friendly, with the magic show by Lewis and some games and bouncy castles to explore and slide on.

For those looking to kick back with a few cold ones and some good music, the dance held at the north end of Franklin Street on Saturday night was the place to be. Manning the stage and belting out some familiar tunes as well as some originals was Outlook rock band Bad Influence, comprised of lead vocalist Syhra Ellis, guitarist/vocalist Josh Rude, bassist Bailey Parr-Kennedy, and drummer Scot Wallace.

In addition to 小蓝视频 an attractive weekend option for hundreds of people to come and enjoy, the events were also in support of the Outlook & District Heritage Museum and Bounty Theatre Hall renovation projects.
