OUTLOOK - A recent 'jail n' bail' event held at the Outlook & District Heritage Museum ended up raising an impressive total.
Held on Valentine's Day, February 14, there were 14 volunteers who gave up their time - and momentarily, their freedom - to support the cause of renovations in order to open up the legendary Bounty Theatre performance hall.
Outlook mayor Maureen Weiterman, Garth Weiterman, Royce Taylor, Bob Stephenson, Andriy Prokopchuk, Trent Sim, Arlin Simonson, Kevin Trew, Sharon Bruce, Phil Petryshyn, Greg Sarvis, Darla Thorstad, Kara Gowen, and Luke Lockhart were all arrested and brought in to the museum by Sgt. Mark Langager of the Outlook RCMP, and from there, the prisoners had to raise bail money (donations) in order to be freed.
Although many family members and friends of the prisoners were perfectly okay with them staying locked up until they did a healthy amount of time, all of the participants were out of "lockdown" by that afternoon.
After confirming e-transfers and walk-up donations, it was revealed that the event raised $9,002, which will go towards reopening the Bounty Theatre, hopefully in the spring.
