OUTLOOK - The newest squad to take to the ice at the Jim Kook Rec Plex in Outlook hosted their first game ever on Sunday, September 24.
The Outlook Mainline Ice Hawks, the newest team formed as a result of the under-22 female hockey league created last winter, welcomed the Western Prairie Junior Klippers from Kindersley to town in a pre-season exhibition game before the newly-minted Saskatchewan Junior Female Hockey League gets officially underway in October.
The game got underway in front of a sizable crowd, who were there witnessing history unfold as the first game of this new female league with these new teams was played.
In the first period, Outlook got off to a great start when #20 Brooklynne Francon sank one into the net just 4:05 into the game. The Klippers would return the favor just over six minutes later at the 10:36 mark, with a goal made by Bree Halter. Things would remain pretty even between both rosters as the clock wound down, until Francon nabbed her second goal of the day at 16:55 to give the Ice Hawks the lead.
The second period would see the action slow down a bit, with the only goal of this twenty-minute timeframe 小蓝视频 made by Laikew Swan of the Klippers at 13:09. This would tie the game up at two goals apiece, resulting in the intensity ratcheting up a bit as both teams fought for control of the puck.
Things could go either way as things headed into the third period, which saw Outlook #18 McKenna Nameth score one for the locals just 19 seconds into the final period. However, not to be outdone, Kiawa Leight scored the third one for the Klippers at 8:21 to once again tie things up in this game.
As the clock counted down and eventually ran out, a tie game of 3-3 would be where things end between Outlook and Western Prairie, at least for the time 小蓝视频.
A rematch will take place between the two teams in just a few weeks when Outlook once again plays host, this time for the kickoff to the official season on Saturday, October 28 at 8:30. From there, the Mainline Ice Hawks' home game schedule is as follows:
