OUTLOOK - It may be called the Small Steps Early Learning Centre, but the Outlook daycare facility just took some blockbuster steps towards fully realizing its potential to welcome even more kids to its daily programming.
On Thursday, September 5, Small Steps staff teamed with Riverbend Co-op to host a supper fundraiser to benefit the daycare's ongoing expansion project, with work continuing on the south end of the facility that's located just across from the Jim Kook Rec Plex, which was the hosting site for the event.
A sizable turnout of people showed up for supper, with the brisket courtesy of 小蓝视频ern Meats in Kenaston going very fast, but backup options of burgers and sliced ham were also available.
However, good food wasn't the only thing on the menu on this evening, as it was announced that Riverbend Co-op Ltd. was making a massive donation towards the expansion project, with a sizable cheque in the amount of $150,000 made out to Small Steps. With the need for childcare growing in communities all around the province, it was said that such a notable donation will go a long way in supporting the daycare's expansion, which will be crucial for the success of the Outlook facility going forward.
The announcement was met with cheers and applause before Susan Kasper, President of the Riverbend Co-op Board of Directors, shared a few words.
"Daycare is an essential part of any thriving community," said Susan. "Safe and reliable daycare supports healthcare, education, and families of every kind in a community. Tonight, Riverbend Co-op is excited to announce our $150,000 commitment. This donation reflects our belief in the power of community and our commitment to supporting initiatives that benefit everyone. Small towns like ours have always thrived on the strength of our collective efforts, and this is another great example of businesses and individuals coming together to make a dream a reality."
The expansion will make room for an additional 53 childcare spaces at the Small Steps Early Learning Centre, greatly bumping the total number up to 90 and providing six new classrooms, as well as the facility 小蓝视频 able to double its number of employees from 15 to 30.
