MOOSE JAW - Earlier today, Moose Jaw-Lake Centre-Lanigan MP Fraser Tolmie hosted the Turkish Ambassador to Canada (Mr. Kerim Uras), the Moldovan Ambassador to Canada (Mr. Emil Druc), alongside representatives from Washington D.C. and Ottawa. The group met with Saskatchewan business stakeholders to discuss increased trade and cooperation with Saskatchewan, with a particular focus on agriculture and commodities.

“At a time of global uncertainty and conflict, it is more important than ever to champion Saskatchewan’s world-class agriculture and energy producers. We have the food and fuel the world needs, and we are an honest and fair trading partner.”

Tolmie emphasizes that now is the time for countries around the world to invest in Canadian producers.

“Now is the time for countries around the world to take advantage of the many opportunities Saskatchewan has to offer for net importers of key commodities like grains and energy products. I’m excited to continue this important dialogue and reach out to more international delegations in the future to do something similar.”

Tolmie says that he plans to continue thinking outside of the box to create opportunities for local producers.

“It’s somewhat unusual for an MP to host foreign delegations in their home riding, as opposed to setting up meetings in Ottawa. But this way, we were able to connect buyers and sellers of many of Saskatchewan’s key commodities directly and help spark a relationship. I know I speak for everyone in attendance when I say that today’s meetings were both productive and exciting for the future of Saskatchewan.”
