Len Taylor, Saskatchewan health minister, announced the appointment of Dan Florizone , a former Canora resident, as the new chairperson of the province鈥檚 Health Quality Council (HQC).

Len Taylor, Saskatchewan health minister, announced the appointment of Dan Florizone, a former Canora resident, as the new chairperson of the province鈥檚 Health Quality Council (HQC). Florizone had served as Assistant Deputy Minister for Saskatchewan Health and as CEO for both rural and urban health organizations throughout the province.

Brent Castle of Hudson Bay was hired as the new principal for the Canora Composite School. Castle, who had many years of experience in the classroom and as a principal, was serving as superintendent of schools for the former Eastland Lakes School Division.

Sgt. Justin Vowles was named the cadet of the year at the annual ceremonial inspection of the Canora squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. It is considered the most prestigious award available as the recipient is chosen by fellow cadets on the basis of whom they believe best lives up to the cadet motto.

An old long-distance telephone switchboard, which was once operated in Canora, was one of the main attractions at the Canora Station House Museum open house. Evelyn Kuruliak, a former telephone operator, gave demonstrations on the switchboard to museum visitors.

William Shakespeare鈥檚 Romeo and Juliet came to life at Canora Composite School as Grade 9 students proved they could learn more about the classic by performing the play.
