Dear Editor:
I was surprised at the narrow-mindedness of a comment from Thom Barker's "Thinking Critically" column from January 2nd. He makes the statement "...every school child - except for perhaps the home-schooled progeny of young-Earth creationists - knows that dinosaurs were ancestors of modern birds." Really? Thom might be disappointed to know that many in the scientific community would disagree with his views of evolution and Old-Earth, and yes, even those with PhDs in Thom's field of study, geology. There was a time in my life when I believed in "Old-Earth/long ages" and evolution because that is what I was taught in school, but when I began an honest investigation and began thinking critically (there it is again!) for myself, found inconsistencies and in some cases outright fraud in the evidence for evolution. I found that the young-Earth creationist viewpoint is consistent, and that was a big part in my conversion to Christianity. It's funny how good science led me to faith!
