The Yorkton United U14 Fury soccer team traveled to Regina this past weekend Jan 29 - Jan 31 to compete in the annual A.C.F.C. Winterfest Indoor Soccer Tournament.
The Yorkton squad came out on top with a 6-1 victory to open the tournament. Jaden Porte and Matthew McKee had 2 goals each while both Kyle Schmidt and Ben Fetsch added singles.
The early morning took effect on the boys but still came out on top 3-0 with Jaden Porte scoring the hat trick and Tyson Black earning the shut out in net. the Fury finished off round robin play Saturday evening versus A.C. Pumas Gold from Regina.
Yorkton beat the host A.C. team 7-0 to finish first in their pool and earn a birth in the gold medal game.
Jaden Porte and Zach Kostersky netted two goals while Matthew McKee, Ryan Nussbaumer, and Haylen Langelier added singles. Tyson Black was in net for his second shut out of the tournament.
The gold medal final was played Sunday afternoon versus the HumboldtHurricanessoccer team Humboldt had most of the momentum for the first half of the game but found themselves down 2-0 after goals by Jaden Porte and Zach Kostersky (another header).
Humboldt did manage to put one goal in before the half was over so the score was 2-1 forYorktonat half and would go on to win the game by a final score of 4-1.
