Yorkton Terrier offence turns hot versus North Stars

YORKTON - The Yorkton Terriers may not have been able to generate any offence in their home opener against Weyburn, but managed to find the twine early in their second defence of the Westland Insurance Arena.

Thursday eve Battlefords rolled into the city and it took only 52-seconds for Tate Schofer to put the home side up 1-0, with a powerplay goal.

Mathew Biros tied the game at 2:24.

Brett Butz restored a one-goal lead for the Terriers at 13:09, and Colton Koran made it 3-1 with a short-handed effort at 15:04.

A pair of early second period goals, both by Dylan Ruptash made it 5-1. The first Ruptash goal came on the powerplay at 6:20, followed up by an unassisted effort at 10:38.

Jackson Allan responded with the second goal of the night for the North Stars at 15:44.

Marshall Light hit the score sheet at 1:20 of the third to draw Battlefords within two at 5-3.

But Yorkton responded with two to pull away. Schofer scored an unassisted goal, for his second of the night at 8:26, and Harrison Aldridge added a powerplay marker at 12:07 to make in 7-3.

Kobie Anderson added one for Battlefords at 16:21, with Jye Zawatsky scoring for Yorkton at 19:23 to round out an 8-4 final score.

Blake Sittler was in the cage for Yorkton facing 28-shots while securing the win.

Joey Hawco was the net guardian for the Stars 小蓝视频 tagged with the loss after facing 33-shots.

The same two teams meet Friday, Sept. 29 in Yorkton.

LaRonge is in Yorkton Oct. 4, and Oct. 7.
