Wet conditions saw Monday's scheduled game against Weyburn get rained out, but the Yorkton Cardinals still got four Western Major Baseball League games in this week, all on the road, and resulted in losses.
The quartet of losses leaves the Cardinals with a 2-10 record, and a .231 winning percentage, tied for worst in the league with Saskatoon.
The Cardinals sit in the basement of the WMBL East Division seven games back of front-running Regina, and 3.5 games back of Melville and Weyburn who both sport .500 records.
Alberta heartache
Yorkton made a swing into Alberta for a couple of games this week losing both to Medicine Hat.
On Friday, Yorkton was dealt a 5-1 loss.
The host team scored two in the first, added another two in the second, and were up 5-0, before the Cardinals managed a lone run in the sixth.
Kevin McLeod had Yorkton's lone RBI of the contest.
Yesneil Henriquez started on the hill for Yorkton, taking the loss. He went five innings, giving up eight hits, and five runs, but only two of those were earned (Yorkton had seven errors in the game). He walked no one, and struck out two.
A night later, things got worse for Yorkton as the Mavericks mauled them 13-5. The fourth inning was the troublesome one as Medicine Hat plated eight runs; they had already built up a 4-1 lead. Luis Lora was the starting pitcher for the Cardinals, going 3.1 innings, allowing nine hits, 10 runs, nine of those earned, and walking one.
The Cardinals did leave 10 on base in the contest, and did clean things up defensively, committing only one error.
Swift Current losses
The Cardinals were in Swift Current for a pair of games against the Indians, losing both matches.
On Wednesday, Yorkton actually had an early lead.
They crossed the plate four times in the first inning, then extending the lead to 5-1 after plating a single run in the third.
Then, in the fifth inning, the wheels fell off for the Cardinals as Swift Current scored six to assert a 6-5 lead. The teams traded runs in the sixth to wrap up the 8-6 Indians win.
Brock Werdel started for Yorkton tossing 4.1 innings, allowing eight hits and giving up five runs, four of those earned.
Max McDonald took the loss on 1.1 innings of work, allowing three runs, two of those earned.
James Green had a steal for Yorkton, his seventh of the season and Daniel Harrison had a pair of RBIs on the offensive side of the ball.
A night later, the storyline was somewhat similar.
The Cardinals again scored in the first inning against the Indians, a lone run Swift Current matched in the home half of the frame.
Yorkton added a pair in the second, but again Swift Current kept pace with two of their own in the third.
Swift Current would then add a pair in the fourth to go up 5-3, before the teams rounded out the 7-5 contest by trading two run efforts in the sixth.
Green was again a catalyst on offence with his first home run of the season, while adding three RBIs.
Sean Gavin started for the Cardinals on the hill, going five innings, giving up five hits and five runs, all of them earned.
Trevor Daggon took the loss in relieve giving up two hits and two runs, neither of them earned in one inning of work.

The Cardinals host Lethbridge for a pair of games this week, Tuesday with results not available at press time, and tonight Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday the Cardinals travel to Regina for action, then play in Melville Saturday.
Melville makes a return visit to Jubilee Park Monday, before Yorkton swings back to Pirie Field Tuesday to again face the Millionaires.
