Willowbrook Wildlife Federation recently made a $400.00 contribution to the Yorkton Regional High School Archery Team. The money will be used toward purchasing more equipment for the increasing number of students wanting to take part in the archery program."Since returning back from the World Championships in Florida, we started the 2010 archery season. We have 34 kids signed up for 2010-2011 season. Many of the 34 are new to our program and vary in grade level. We are excited that our school archery program is growing every year, "says Head Archery Coach Darren Wandy.

The archery program at the Regional is in its fourth year of the National Archery in the School Program (NASP). NASP uses archery as a medium to connect youth with their school, relationships with adults and other student within the school, a sense of self worth and success in a safe and controlled manner. "We are able to continue to offer quality programs like archery because of groups like the Willowbrook Wildlife Federation.Their financial help is greatly appreciated and it impacts our students in a variety of ways."The Willowbrook club has made contributions in the past to the YRHS, but they have also helped out other schools in the local area.

"The slogan for NASP is "Changing Lives One Arrow at a Time", with the financial help from the Willowbrook Wildlife Federation, we are able to make positive changes to our students lives. The program is truly amazing and is responsible for leaving positive memories with the students." Wandy encourages everyone who has NASP in their schools, to support it.You can also support NASP by buying a membership to local wildlife clubs or organizations.Wandy goes on to say, A portion of dollars they raise through selling memberships, banquets and fundraisers goes back in to grassroots programs like NASP.If anyone would like further information about the archery program at the Regional, they are welcome to contact Darren Wandy at 786-5573.
